Another successful reunion was held in Peoria, IL 11-16 Sep 01 in conjunction with the USSVI National Convention.  We had a good turnout in the hospitality room, for the Memorial Service, and for the banquet.  The banquet was held in conjunction with the USS Seadragon.
Special contributions during the banquet by Sea Fox personnel were the prayers given by Frank Lister, reading of departed shipmates by Whitey Davidson, and of course a talk by Capt. "Uncle Lew" Neeb, former skipper of the Sea Fox.  Tom Pawlowski won the Sea Fox water color painted by Submarine Artist Tom Denton.
Many sea stories were rehashed by all involved and getting reacquainted with former shipmates is always a highlight.  Just seeing shipmates we haven't seen for years is well worth attending the reunion.
Of course the terrible tradegy of Sept. 11 was foremost on our minds and our prayers and thoughts went out to all that list their lives on that fateful day.  May God Bless them all and give strength and leadership to those that will lead our country in the fight against such tradegies.  We are the United States of America and we will overcome!
There were of course several who were unable to attend the reunion that had planned on it.  The situation prevented them from making the necessary connections, etc.  They were missed and hopefully will be able to make the next reunion.
We met on Friday afternoon to talk about forming a Sea Fox Associatoin.  It was voted unanimously to form the association.  Yearly dues of $10 was approved.  Those in attendance at the reunion will become Plank Owners in the Association.  Because those attending the reunion were due to have a refund on the banquet meal, it was voted that they would leave the money in the funds and that would pay their 2002 dues.  More specific information about the association will be forwarded via Email for those with Email and by USPS for those that do not have access to Email.   The following personnel were elected as officers for the association:
                                                         President:  George Arnold
                                                         Vice-Pres:   George Long
                                                         Secretary/Treasurer:  Alan Wilson
                                                         Storekeeper:  Lon Schmidt
Newsletter Editor:  Mrs. Mary Ellen Burdick
                                                         Reunion Coodinators:  Alan Wilson
                                                                                             Lon Schmidt
                                                                                             George Arnold
                                                         Webmaster:  George Arnold
It was also voted to hold our next reunion in Bremerton, WA the first week after the USSVI convention in September 2003.  The USSVI convention will be held in Reno.  It was decided that it would be best to hold the Sea Fox reunion by itself and not in conjunction with the USSVI convention or any other boat.
Reunion coordinators for the Bremerton reunion will be Jim Mason and Ron Hnatovic.  Click on the Assoc link below for the Sea Fox Association Web site.
