Following a "talk back" session on an Auckland radio station, we received a phone call from a lady who has amassed a very interesting collection of photos and articles dealing with early Auckland.   She was kind enough to make these tram photos available for this web page.

Horse buses on the left are passing the site of the Town Hall in Queen St, Auckland (to right of picture). The photo was dated 1890 but must have been taken later, as the lines and centre poles are in place for the future electric trams.

The shot looks vaguely familiar, and I am wondering if this photo has not also appeared in one of Graham Stewart's tramway books???

This photo, taken at the Queen Street/ Custom Street corner is dated 1910 - but the presence of the  NZ Guardian Trust (former NZ Insurance) building in the distance (with clock on right) suggests a later date - possibly 1915.
