THE TRAMWAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY of Christchurch runs trams both at the Historic Village at Ferrymeade, and, more recently, in conjunction with the Christchurch City Council, on an INNER CITY LOOP around key central city attractions. Seen here - a restored DUNEDIN tram passing through Victoria Square.

CHRISTCHURCH No.1 is a Stephenson California Combination car which ran on the opening day of the Christchurch Electric Tramway in June 1905

TRAM NO.178 was one of a series introduced during 1921-1926.  Converted to one-man operation in the 1930s, they survived until a year beforethe lines closed in 1954

These two DUNEDIN TRAMS 22 & 11 (restored and running now in Christchurch) are of special interest.  Tram 11, a single truck saloon, was at one time coupled with tram No.10,they reverted to single unts in 1926.  Tram 22, a California combination, ran on the steep Maori Hill Route in Dunedin at one stage.
