Shetland Sheepdogs, also called Shelties, are a small herding breed which originated on the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland.  They come in many colors and variations of brown (sable), black, gray (blue) and white.  Rosie and Trooper are examples of tri-color, which is mainly black and white with tan points.  Lizzie and Tabitha are bi-black (no tan points).   Bonnie is a golden sable.  China is a bi-blue merle... genetically a diluted black influenced by a merling factor.

Brigadoon is a very small hobby kennel.  The dogs are here because we love them and they are an important part of our lives.  They live in our house, sleep in our bedroom, and puppies (when we have them) are raised in our kitchen.  At Brigadoon we are striving for a balanced dog -- brains, beauty and temperament.  Our shelties are shown in Breed, Obedience and Agility.  They are also working therapy dogs, regularly visiting nursing homes and children's hospitals.

Companion puppies are occasionally available.  The pups are health-checked, temperament tested, AKC registered, microchipped and are sold on a limited registration with a spay/neuter contract.  They are born of parents who have been thoroughly health-tested.  We strictly adhere to the Breed Standard as written by the American Shetland Sheepdog Association.  Puppies are sold to approved homes only.  We will NOT sell to pet stores, puppy mills or dog wholesalers.  We reserve the right to choose which home is best suited for every dog.  Inquiries are always welcome.

We are members of Western Massachusetts Shetland Sheepdog Club and Tri State Shetland Sheepdog Club.  We also belong to Longshore Southport Kennel Club, Port Chester Obedience Training Club, The Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and Therapy Dog International (where Lea is one of only two evaluators in the state of Connecticut).  We are also associates of New England Sheltie Rescue, working to insure that  lost, abandoned or unwanted shelties are rehabilitated and re-homed into loving forever families.
