Ron and Claudine recently had a DVD made called, “MEET THE GLYNN'S” it that tells you a lot about them. The DVD tells more about them then we can tell here. They sent a copy to every Awana Church in Iowa. If you would like a copy give them a call.
Ron and Claudine Glynn:
Ron was the most decorated department head in the history of Hy-Vee Food
Stores when presented with the opportunity to become an Awana missionary, he
asked himself this question: "Do I want to devote the rest of my life to
selling one more head of lettuce or reaching one more boy or girl for Christ?"
The answer was obvious. He and his wife Claudine have been The Awana faith
supported missionary couple for Iowa since December 1994.
Both Ron and Claudine grew up in Northwest Iowa's rural Webster County. They
were childhood sweethearts. As a teenager, Claudine accepted Christ as her
savior. Ron grew up as a regular churchgoer, but he had never heard the gospel.
Then he observed how Claudine handled some difficult circumstances
with grace and strength. That got Ron's attention. When Claudine introduced
Ron to a pastor who explained the gospel, Ron accepted Christ.
He and Claudine were married in 1975. They learned about Awana when the first
of their three daughters became involved in Cubbies. Later, they became
leaders. Ron was a leader for a short time previously to his being a
Commander for 10 years. Claudine was a Sparks leader than director for years
prior to 1994. Since 1994 Claudine has stayed busy assisting Ron and has
still found time over the years to be a JV and than a Varsity director...and now Sparks Game director.
Years ago, Ron and Claudine read the first article in the Signal about a
summer missions trip planned for Awana teens. It was the first (MIT)
Missionary-in-Training trip. They called Headquarters and asked how they
could get involved. Since then the Glynns have participated in over twenty
MIT "boot camps" and have accompanied groups of teens to 4 different
continents, some of them more than once. They've seen the MIT program produce
life changing spiritual growth in teen's lives over the course of a few short weeks.
Ron recently also took part in an Awana Vision Team trip. He can’t type the country on this web page (hint hint) but se saw the great wall.
The Glynn's home church is the First Evangelical Free in Boone, Iowa.
Claudine works part-time as a registered nurse at Mary Greeley Medical Center
in Ames, Iowa.
Ron also helps out the Sheriffs department for Boone County. Ron says being a small department he has found himself doing everything from delivering death notifications, to helping out at the jail.
The Glynn’s have three daughters.
All three of their girls are now married – they are Melissa, Emily, Katie. Their daughters where involved in Awana since they were old enough to be Cubbies.
Ron and Claudine have three grandchildren (and many to come...Lord willing).
The Glynn’s presently minister (with the help of a large volunteer team...... called the Ministry Team) to over 200 churches in Iowa that are registered to use the Awana ministry.
The Glynn’s also have had a ministry assistant for the last 7 years that is a key helper to their ministry. His name is Mr. Jim Peterson. Jim and his family work tirelessly behind the view of others on all the written forms for events....... and Jim is the web master.
