Aikido of Jonesboro, Arkansas came into being in June,2000.  The founder Brett Baker was introduced to Aikido in the late 80's by a friend from Louisiana.  However, it took a few years and much searching to begin his learning process in the world of aikido.  In 1990 he located  a former student who had studied aikido through a program at Arkansas State University.  It was here his studies began. In 1992 he located Sensei George Jensen of Conway, Arkansas. Brett studied under George at the North Little Rock Community Center until '96'.  In '96' George learned of the Aikido Society of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee.  Memphis being closer to Jonesboro, Arkansas where Brett lives George suggested Brett give it a try.  So began the next path of Brett's studies.  Under Jim Baker Sensei, at the Aikido Society of Memphis where he studied until 2000. In November, 2000, he tested under Yamada Sensei (New York Aikikai) and Kanai Sensei at Winter Camp 2000 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.  Wishing to continue his Aikido and hoping to help others in the Jonesboro area interested in Aikido find their search easier, Aikido of Jonesboro was founded.
