A Rainy Octoberfest, Muinch 2002
Europe - September 2002
My sister Gisela and I at the entrance to the Oktoberfest.
Our last 3 vacation days we spent with my sister in Augsburg, Germany.  Augsburg is about 45 miles from Munich and Charlie, never having experienced the "Oktoberfest", was anxious to take a look.  The weather report had promised us a warm and dry afternoon!  By the time we got there is pouring.
As you can see, the rides were not very popular!
So everybody headed for the beer tents - and they were crowded - even at 2 pm.
Even some of the tents were leaking.
We followed the crowd and had our "Mass" (beer) and "Haendl" (grilled chicken) with a "Bretzel".

Everybody knows that the beer is best at the Oktoberfest, however, the food is just as great.  You get the best grilled chicken, spit roasted pork and beef, grilled fish and crunchy 'Bretzels'.  And don'tmiss the "Brotzeit" - smoked meats, radishes, pickels and bread.

If you need to use a bathroom after drinking all that beer, just follow one of those signs.
The view from the ferris wheel. We went on one ride before heading home in snow and rain.
