Our Christmas Family Service was led by the children of the Junior Church. It included a comedy nativity play called 'Just Like That' which was especially written for the Junior Church by Steve Moss. The extremely amusing script and Steve's excellent Tommy Cooper impersonation had the congregation roaring with laughter.
However the highlight of the concert, certainly for the children, was the entrance of Santa Claus, who came laden with sweets. This year's special effects included both bubbles drifting down from the roof and a heavy fall of snow! After the concert there was a delicious buffet for all the audience.
Over the years we've sung in sub-zero temperatures, wind, fog and even snow. However we've always been luckily that it hasn't rained - and this year was no exception. Despite the freezing fog over the previous few days, the temperature rose (slightly!) and the mists cleared. Over thirty children and parents turned out and we collected £120. Afterwards the singers enjoyed hot chocolate, mince pies and mulled wine! Thank you to everyone who donated so generously.
