SO MUCH to All

Your alumni site webmaster was honored at the recent class reunion sponsored by the Class of 1952.  This was the 50-year reunion for the class.  Members from the classes of 1949, 50, 51 and 53 joined in the celebration as well as several from other classes..

I am so thankful to all those who honored me at the class reunion.  All the wonderful words spoken and the feelings expressed were so gratifying to me.

My fondness memories are those of growing up in Cameron and of the people and events that occurred in the town and surrounding community.   Being able to reconnect with several of these people has enabled me to relive many of my wonderful memories of my youth.

Initially the alumni site was begun to give me something to do with all my spare time in my retirement.   One wonders what happened to old friends and the Internet was a great resource for research to not only help locate people.  In some cases web sites were found that that had information about some people or their business.

Sharing this information became the primary objective of the web site so that the others might be able to reconnect with their friends, at least in thought even if some people couldn't actually be contacted.

The recognition recently bestowed upon me is a reflection of the feelings of others as they have rekindled their own friendships with people.   In some cases the web site is the bearer of sad news as one learns of an old friends demise.  Though there is closure on a life, the book of memories about that person remains open and he/she is not forgotten.

I would like to share with you what was on a beautiful wooden plaque that was given to me.  Unfortunately the dark wood and engraving couldn't be reproduced via scanning into the computer.  The following words are etched in black in the plaque, which is actually a mahogany-colored wood.

Now for a Commercial:

Several people have submitted email addresses and information about others for posting on the web site.  I not only welcome this information but encourage even more people to contribute since it is vital to the success of the web site.

Also I would encourage using the Message Board more for discussion threads about your own memories.

Please send more pictures.

Thank you to everyone for your support!

John

Introduction.   Dean Johnston talked about the Alumni Web site and then a representative of each of the classes came up front.
Me giving thanks for the honor, reminiscing a bit and then plugging the web site.
Bev (Johnson) Rost pins a #1 Blue Ribbon on me and gives me the Plaque.
Love those at-a-boys
