Having experienced substantial growth and support over the past few months, the MCTC pulled togther student volunteers, adult volunteers, area businesses and civic leaders from throughout the community to celebrate the official launch of this new and exciting initiative.
"We are very excited about the turnout and I think we have captured a great number of volunteers to start the program off right," stated Jerri Moses, Teen Court Coordinator. She added that, "So far, we have been given the 'fhumbs up' from all that we have spoken to and we are hoping to continue that trend as we move into the training phase of the program."
Trainings for MCTC will be held every Tuesday in the month of July and will prepare everyone involved for the mock trials to begin in August.
Greg Puckett, Project Director for the Mercer County Drug Free Community Program, one of the sponsoring agencies for the program was excited about the potential for a 'top notch' program. "All is a go for starting this Teen Court in September. We can think of no bettr time to start such an important program than National Youth Court Month."
