.  She was born Abt. 1816 in Cumberland Co, North Carolina, and died February 1899 in Harnett Co, North Carolina20.

HUGH BUIE:  Bordeaux Buie:  clearly stated that Owens was a son of Hugh Buie therefore this line is added here

Census records indicate at least three daughters, details unknown

Hugh Buie's family is determined by comparing census and military records from Bladen Co, NC and is subject to review.  Due to the fires at the Bladen Co courthouse many records were lost.

Buie Book: lists six sons and three unknown daughters with speculation of connection between Hugh Buie and Hugh Robert Buie of Cumberland, Harnett, and New Hanover Counties.

Information obtained from Delilah Buie's Petition of War, Widow's Pension would indicate that the Hugh Buie here is the same Hugh Buie that was previously speculated as Hugh Robert Sr. b ca 1820 who married Deliah Baker (Cumberland Co., NC Marriage Bonds).  Hugh died July 24, 1847 in Monterey, Mexico.
Hugh Buie enlisted in Co F NC Volunteers for the Mexican War.

Hugh Buie also enlisted in local Militia Balden Co., NC for War of 1812 (in 1814)

UNKNOWN OWENS:
Note: Genealogy files of TS Buie states that Hugh Buie married Elizabeth Bearden.  From papers of Linda Malone, letters of Bordeaux Buie state indicated that Hugh's wife's surname is Owens.
Verification of either name has not been found.

                        making his birth about 1837-8.

In The Buie Family:Scotland to Northa America, pg. 83, the compilers list a David James as a son of Hugh Buie.

Confederate Records, NC History and Archives of David James Buie.

Certificate from Capt. Lytle:
"Permission to proceed to Army:
Worked as railroad carpenter-2 yrs- in Rebel service.  Mistreated badly by officers.  Considered I had nothing to fight for, having no property .  Came to conclusion in about a year, but had no chance to get away.   Took oath of allegience to Washington.

David James was in same company as Josiah and Francis and was with Francis when attempting to get to the enemy.  It is unknown if David James and the James listed on the Pension Application are one in the same.  David James did not return to NC after taking his Oath of Allegience in Washington.

Neither a David James nor a James of the approximate age listed in the pension would be located in the NC census of 1850.

A James Buie, listed in 1860 census for Chesterfield, SC. He is with the following people, Eliza Lellan age 49, Sarah Shoemaker age 30, and Rosana Shoemaker age 1.  Various records put his birthdate approximately  1838-1842.  This James married Sarah Kea and is listed in Family Group LL.
Family tradition of James Buie, orphaned, his father killed in a War, but not Civil War as he was orphaned prior to 1860.  Some family members in South Carolina believe he was from Raeford (Raiford Creek??).  The compilers believe he was associated with the Buie family of Bladen Co., NC.
Only Buie killed in a War prior to Civil War, matching these approximate dates, that I have so far located, is Hugh Buie of Bladen Co., NC, died Mexican War, 1847.

Child of HUGH BUIE and DELILAH BAKER is:
17.          viii.          HUGH ROBERT4 BUIE, b. June 21, 1847, Cumberland Co, North Carolina;
                                 d. April 30, 1929, Wilmington, New Hanover Co, North Carolina.

4.  MALCOLM3 BUIE (ARCHIBALD2, ARCHIBALD1) was born Abt. 1799 in Bladen Co, NC, and died Abt. 1850 in Montgomery, AL.  He married REBECCA BORDEAUX26 Abt. 1827 in Bladen Co, NC, daughter of JAMES BORDEAUX and REBECCA BAKER.  She was born Abt. 1812 in Bladen Co, NC26.
Lived in Alabama 1847-1849, Malcolm was killed when the mule pulling the wagon from Alabama kicked him in the stomach or per Bordeaux H Buie: the wagon fell on him..  He was buried in Montgomery and the family proceeded to Copiah Co, Miss.
The notes of Bordeaux Buie lists these children as children of Archibald and Ephamie Campbell as "Archibald, Huey, Daniel, John, Malcolm, Duncan,
Neil, Isaish, Sally and Ellen."  Ellen was his aunt, but I believe that he confused the
families.  I have found a Susan Ellen Bordeaux, b. abt 1832 who married William F.  Robitzsch, May 10, 1851 in New Hanover County, NC.  She was the sister of
Rebecca Bordeaux, wife of Malcolm Buie (see #4).  For more information on
