Jeff's Sun is in Scorpio. One's Sun sign is the placement with which we are most familiar. When some swinging guy or gal asks "What sign are you?" They are referring to your Sun sign, whether they know it or not. Sun in Scorpio made this beautiful boy wildly passionate, vividly emotional, and determined to ferret out and "know" what ever it was that intrigued him in every sense of the word.
He also had Mercury in Scorpio. Mercury rules the mental facilities of the person, and the way they communicate. Mercury in the sign of Scorpio made him capable of getting to the heart of something quickly and directly. Scorpios have an almost innate power to know the essence of things and people. Mercury here gave him a biting wit, and in his case made him a wickedly accurate mimic.
Jeff had Venus in Scorpio, so the passion and intense emotionality here is applied to matters of love and affection, and social exchange. People that knew Jeff often spoke of the immediate, and deep sense of intimacy they felt when engaged in a one on one with him. He could turn his attention on a person (or an audience) in a very complete way. This is very Venus in Scorpio. Sexuality is always of primary importance. Jeff said he saw or sensed the sexual energy in every aspect of life. He said it was like how some people see God in everything.
Scorpio with Pluto energies is the sign most closely aligned with the powers of sex and death. It is regenerative like Shiva.
A person with this planetary placement is always very magnetic and sexually attractive (see special Scorpio Planet Page). This intensity has the power to attract or repel. It can be perceived on a primal level as threatening to some people. Jeff endured a lot of negative reactions in high school in conservative Orange County, California.
With Moon in Aquarius he was very independent, a free thinker and fond of anything unconventional. All that Scorpio undoubtedly added a need to shock people with his originality, and gave him a serious intent to be true to himself regardless of the reaction he got because of it.
With Leo Rising he would have had a very strong need to express himself, be the star of his show, and be appreciated and adored by his audience in this world. He boldly let his freak flag fly even back in high school. He had long hair at a time when most kids in O.C. were sporting shaved heads and though he stubbornly insisted on his uniqueness it did cause him pain to be rejected for all the things he felt made him special. Aquarius energy vibrates sympathetically with the underdog. Whether people or causes. Jeff was always unconsciously looking for a group of like-minded artists and eccentrics among whom he would feel at ease .
The Scorpio Sun, Aquarius Moon combination gave him intense and abundant emotional energy. It made him idealistic, and perceptive with lightning quick sense impressions. He was very intelligent, and very well spoken, with an astounding imagination that easily found brilliant expression in speech and musical expression.
Having Mars in Virgo added a capacity for attending to details. He was a wicked perfectionist. The Virgo energy in the Martian realm of motivations enabled Jeff to become very technically proficient on guitar, piano, and in vocal technique. He was easily able to execute any of his artistic ideas and his Scorpio elements gave his self-expression depth and passion. With Leo Rising he was a natural showman, warm hearted, generous with his audiences and right at home on stage. . ~

A Star is Born
The Estate of Jeff Buckley was recently presented with an
International Registry Certificate announcing the naming of a star in
memory of Jeff Buckley. The star is just a few hundred light years
away in The Milky Way Galaxy with the precise location noted as RA
19h55m27.64s Decl. 09d, within the Aquila constellation. The star has
a visual brightness/magnitude (MV) which is bright enough to be seen with
the naked eye and does not require a telescope for viewing.
The constellation where the star is located [Aquila], is visible in
the Northern Hemisphere from July thru October and reaches its
highest point in the evening sky in late August. In conjunction with
the stars Deneb of Cygnus and Vega of Lyra, it forms the
prominent "Summer Triangle." The constellation is visible in the
Southern Hemisphere from November through June.
Divided into halves by the equator, Aquila is to the north of
Sagittarius, surrounded by the constellations Sagitta and Delphinus
among others. One of the brightest stars of the sky, Altair, which is
16 light-years away from the solar system is also contained within
the same constellation and is one of the nearest stars to Earth. The
brightest nova ever seen in history occurred in Aquila in 1918.
The myth and history: The constellation Aquila, in the shape of an
Eagle, appears in the sky to be flying towards the East and across
the Milky Way. It lies next to and westwards from Delphinus [the
Dolphin] and south of Cygnus [the Swan]. For more information read the legend of Aquila
