We're glad you found our site! We're located in Dorris, California, in beautiful Butte Valley, just below the California-Oregon state line. In case you've never traveled to the North State, here's how to find us.....
At Weed, California, take US Highway 97 north. This marks the beginning of the famous AL-CAN Highway. Leaving Weed, you will drive around the expansive base of Mount Shasta, elevation 14,162 feet. Travel about fifty miles and you'll be in Dorris at the north end of Butte Valley. Looking south you'll see the north face of majestic Mount Shasta, with her year-round mantle of snow. We think you'll agree - this is truly one of the loveliest spots on earth.
We focus on projects to support our local community. These involve assisting with vision and hearing needs for valley residents and honoring Students of the Month at Butte Valley High School. Fundraisers include the annual spring Lions Club Barbecue and the fall Food Booth at the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair, not to mention many pancake breakfasts at various other events.
On June 2, 1996, after sponsoring numerous fundraising activities and receiving many generous donations, we raised the 30 x 60 foot flag to fly atop the 200-foot-tall pole. This flag flying from America's Tallest Flagpole requires a lot of muscle to raise, something we avoid on windy days! Elsewhere on our site we've posted photos of the raising, and also information about the American Eagle Flag Endowment Fund. You are cordially invited to assist us in long-term support for this most worthy project.
Our club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. Summer dates are somewhat modified to allow for vacationing members' travel.
We trust you'll stay around for a few minutes and look at the rest of our pages. And when you visit this area, consider attending one of our meetings. You would be most welcome!
