June 2, 1996, in Dorris, California, a huge version of Old Glory was unfurled atop America's Tallest Flagpole. During this exciting event, a magnificent bald eagle circled overhead. It was a glorious sight for Butte Valley community members and motorists passing by on US Highway 97. Numerous others the world over watched on the Internet.
To keep this flag flying in a manner that meets the highest standards has been our goal since that day. Experience has shown us that it is more expensive than we first imagined to keep either new or well-repaired flags flying. The elements of weather - wind, sun, rain, and snow - all play havoc with the flag!
Funds are needed periodically to buy new flags, repair older flags, and maintain motors, pumps, and cables on the pole. The American Eagle Flag Endowment Fund guarantees that necessary funds to display the flag with a sense of pride will always be available. Monies given ensure that an occasion will never arise when a flag too small, tattered, or faded will be flown.
We invite you to participate at either of two levels.....
1. Perhaps you would like to send an occasional or one-time donation to the Endowment Fund, in any amount.
2. Or, you may wish to join the Endowment Fund contributors by pledging $100 on an annual basis, continuing only for as long as you wish to do so. If you prefer this plan, you will be sent a lovely, framed certificate with the graphic of a bald eagle posed in front of the American Flag, as shown above.
