In November, 1981, the State of Florida granted a Charter to the Gulfport Community Players, Inc., designating us as a Not-for-Profit organization. As of Dec. 2003, we now have 501(C)(3) tax status.
We are a completely separate entity from the City of Gulfport, but we do, however, rent the
Catherine A. Hickman Theater of Gulfport for our mainstage performances.
All of our mainstage productions are currently performed at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater of Gulfport. This theater is entirely owned and operated by the City of Gulfport, Florida. It is located
at 5501- 27th Avenue South in Gulfport, FL. We rent this theater for our performances from the City.
Theater rental rates may by obtained from the City of Gulfport by contacting Gulfport's Events Supervisor, Gail Kelley, at: gkelley@ci.gulfport.fl.us

A SPECIAL INVITATION
This is a FIRST! The Players are inviting directors, throughout the area, to submit their requests for plays that they would like our theater group to perform.
Also tell us why you would like us to put on the play, in 25 words or less.
Keep in mind that we perform our plays at the Hickman Theater- a great theater, but it has only 172 seats, and VERY limited space for any musical back-up group.
The Gulfport Community Players will be holding auditions for our 8th Annual Summer One Act Play Festival on Monday and Tuesday, May 26th & 27th. These cold script reading auditions will be held at our Back Door Theater, located at 4919- 17th Avenue South, in Gulfport, FL. Auditions will begin at 7 p.m.
The Players need both male and female actors, ages 20 to 70, for 8 short plays that were picked for this year's Festival. Some actors may be used in more than one of the plays. All interested people are urged to try out for a part. This is a great way to break into the community theater scene, by the way. The plays vary from 5 to 25 minutes in length, so the parts won't require a lot of memorization.
The Fesitval consists of relatively new plays, most of which haven't been performed on a stage before. Some were written by professional playwrights and some were written by unknown playwrights. The plays being done contain both drama and comedy and should be appeal to just about everyone.
The Festival will run from July 10th through July 20th and will be performed at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater of Gulfport. All interested people are urged to try out for a part, regardless of experience levels.
