A Special Christmas Memory
The Hershey Kiss
Harry was an absolute delight as a pet and a friend. At this point in our journey together, Harry is five years old and has been a house rabbit for almost three of those years.
It was Christmas and I was preparing my usual "goodie" bags to send to nieces and nephews. Candy wrappings and trappings overflowed the table and littered
the floor as I counted out exact amounts for each bag. Harry was in his "bunny explorer" mode and was checking out each and every detail of the operation.
After a while, I missed his constant nudging at my foot and I wondered where he had got off to, so I called to him and he appeared from behind a chair with a single chocolate Hershey's Kiss in his mouth. And and he looked guilty, to boot.
Harry had a way about him that spoke volumes. When I'd call him after his nap, he would come out looking all fuzzy and ruffled. I could almost see him yawn and
rub his sleepy eyes and could almost hear him say, "Why did you wake me up? What?"
The Hershey's Kiss episode is another example. Harry looked just like the little boy who had chocolate smeared all over his face and was trying desperately to deny it.
"Harry, where did you get that chocolate," I asked him. He looked up at me with those big innocent brown eyes that I could never resist and replied, "What chocolate?"
After that I 'd give Harry little bits of chocolate graham crackers as treats. And at Christmas I'd wrap a "Kiss" for him and put it with the other gifts under the tree. He seemed to enjoy tearing it open to retrieve his prize..
Here's a holiday idea. Take some festive photos of your bunnies and send them as cards to your family and friends. And don't forget to wrap up a Christmas goodie for you fuzzy buddies too.
