It was a mutual rescue!  After we suddently lost Bailey, our Springer Spaniel "baby,"  we were heartbroken.  Online, I discovered Springer Spaniel Rescue America, and made a few contacts.

On August 2, 2000,
it was a whirlwind of activity for Roscoe:  he was bailed out of doggie jail at Camp LeJune, NC.  He was subjected to a vet exam and a bath. Then, he was shuttled by no less than 3 volunteers up to Durham, where we went to meet him.  He was so sad and underweight

He was very boring and sedate when he first arrived.  He didn't know how to play or how to swim.  He didn't know any usual doggie words like "out" or "treat" or "walk".

Now Roscoe is quite animated, and loveable. He soon proved that he didn't like to stay in the pen outside--he certainly prefers the couch!
