1. Shepherd of Israel, listen!
Lead Joseph like a flock.
Your throne is on the cherubs,
Upon your tribes shine forth.
Stir up your mighty power,
And come to rescue us!
You brought a vine from Egypt,
And planted it anew.
2. You cleared out nations for it,
It took root and it grew.
It shaded all the mountains,
And mighty cedars, too.
It stretched from Sea to River.
So why'd you break its walls,
So passersby its fruit take,
And wild things havoc wreak?
3. Lord of hosts, turn back to us,
Look down from heav'n and see;
Have pity on your planting,
Which they've burned and cut down.
May your rebuke destroy them,
But strengthen one you choose.
Save us, and we'll turn to you;
Restore us, and save us.
