1. Almighty God, restore us,
Have mercy and save us.
You brought a vine from Egypt,
And planted it anew.
You cleared out nations for it,
It took root and it grew.
It shaded all the mountains
And mighty cedars, too.
2. It stretched from Sea to River.
So why'd you break its walls?
So passersby its fruit take,
And wild things havoc wreak?
Lord of hosts, turn back to us,
Look down from heav'n and see;
Have pity on your planting,
Placed there by your right hand.
