Alfred Eckstadt: Chopper &Ashtabula Off-Roader
Inspired by BR&K and Chunk 666, I have put this together - - -
Built from a 70's musclebike, 12" extension, frame lengthened. Wheels are 72-spoke, single speed coaster brake, but frame can be fitted with front/rear caliper brakes and multispeed hubs. Rides and handles well, everyone who has tried it likes it! This chopper is for sale. Visit my website for more information about the making of this bike - - -

The off-road bike is a trail rider. It was an Ashtabula beach bike bought for $18 at a flea market in Miami, Fla. I loved riding it and it evolved over two decades into its present shape. Motocycle handlebars and Brooks B66 leather saddle, Carlisle knobbys, Ashtabula BMX crank and steering neck, Shimano 3- speed coaster brake and low-low sprocket ratio. I've ridden it through sand and mud river beds, across streams, followed abandoned overgrown railroad beds and canal
towpaths. This bike can go anywhere Currently building an even more formidable trail rider. Similar to the Ashtabula but based on a cheap mountain bike frame, it has a Sturmey-Archer 3 speed. Front and rear centerpull brakes make it easier to handle in the tight places and tricky spots. Great fun to ride - will send photo when it is finished and painted.
