NOTES: William McNabb, b. 1702 in Scotland was first married to Betty Aiken. In 1750 he married Martha Sarah "Johnston" Bennett. There is much disagreement with descendants. ~From Lynn Gray: (McNabb Rootsweb) "No family Bible records have ever been found. The 1920 research in this family was hired by a descendant of David MCNABB & wife, Elizabeth Taylor. A grandson of the family now believes that William MCNABB lived in Monroe Co., PA ., prior to coming to Augusta Co., VA. This William McNabb may be a descendant of James MCNABB who, along with many other prisoners of the Battle of Worchester, was shipped to America in 1651 aboard the 'John and Sarah'."
23 Apr. 1770; William McNabb and Martha, sold James McNabb 150 acres on North Fork of Christian Creek in Beverly Manor, corner Samuel McNabb's part of the tract. Genealogy notes from Dave Raymond

A Little History On Clan McNabb
Some early History: Son of the Abbot, "mac an aba' , became established in Glendochart in Perthshire. The progenitor of the clan is traditionally the abbot of Glenochart. Since the abbots were hereditary, the first Mcab(b) chiefs were also abbots of the Monastery.
One of the earliest records of the family is found in the charter of 1124. Malcolm de Glendochart was one of the Scottish nobleman who submitted to Edward I of England. His name appears on the Ragman Roll of 1296. Agnus McNabb joined in a campaign against the king in 1306. However the victory of Bannockburn (1314) ended his campaign and the McNabb lands were forfeit and their charter destroyed.
By 1336, the fortunes of the clan were restored. Gilbert, the grandson of Agnus, received a new charter from David II. Gilbert was succeeded in his lands by his son, Sir Alexander, who died Abt. 1407. By 1522, the McNabb land included, Invermonichele, Downich, Ardchyle, and Bothmachan. By the 16th century the McNabbs were doing well. Their castle was n the Eilean Ran on an island on the Lochay. River
The fourteenth chief of the McNabbs was Robert McNabb.
Seventeenth Chief: Francis McNabb, he died in 1816.
Eighteenth Chief: Archibald McNabb. He removed to Canada, then Orkney, to London, and then to France.
In 1745 the clan divided, some following the government and the rest following Prince Charles
