Bob McKenty had been invited by Major League Baseball each year to read his light verse at the Hall of Fame. He wrote: "I was in Cooperstown for the "last" Hall of Fame Game (it was rained out), but I no longer do recitations there. Last year they discontinued book signings, and their "Sandlot Stories," the banner under which I recited before I had a book. It was fun while it lasted (eight years; nine appearances)."

October is the month that begins the last quarter of the year. Businesses use this time to either catch up to their projections or add to the better totals.
