Notes:
Welcome to Art Studio 7!!
In Native American Pueblo culture, mothers and grandmothers would create special dolls for the younger people in their families.  Each doll would represent a story from the family’s past, a special tradition, or important cultural belief.  The doll was used to teach the young person about the family’s history and traditions.   Doll figures are important parts of African tradition, too.  Figures were made to explain mythology, help people stay healthy, and help them stay in touch with ancestors.  Doll figures can be found in every culture and throughout history – and often they are seen as being much more than toys.
