Heather's House Budget
I plunked down $3,470.74 during my first ordering spree at the lumber store. I had some delivered immediately, and got the rest of the supplies delivered as needed.

$329.12 - 16 sheets 3/4 inch tongue and groove plywood, floor and loft use

$225.89 - 25 sheets of 7/16ths oriented strand board for walls
$74.97 - 9 2x8x14 loft joists
$203.68 - 16 1/2 inch plywood, for roofing material (I think)
$194.04 - 6 sheets of red ameridrain metal roofing (Colored metal costs almost double regular, metal colored metal)
$73.50 - 1 roll of typar housewrap
$705.60 - 2432 linear feet of 1/2 inch reswan spruce clapboards (Outer covering)
$185.22 - 30 sheets of 1/2x4x12 sheetrock
$341.04 - 12 4 foot high, 200 pound concrete piers to rest the house on

Since then, I've spent around $1,000 more on extraneous things like bricks for a stove pad, trim for windows and doors, more roof metal, metalbestos pipe ($125 for a section 2 feet long!!!!!) for the woodstove, etc, etc.

Also spent a little money on tools and a lot on nails (About 15 pounds a week on the busy ones) Nails are around $4.25 per 5 pound box.

Electrical expenses have been around $250. That includes 250 feet of wire, outlet boxes, switches, outlets, ground fault interuptor switches, plates, screws, wire nuts, etc.

Not included is the invaluable help I have gotten from my dad, a carpenter. He has helped me by explaining building terminology, explaining how to do things, helping me construct things, and driving me to the lumber yard when I ran out of nails and wanted to bang out another 10 pounds worth of nail work. It's a good thing he doesn't charge. :)
