* At UH, a successful thesis statement must first be approved by the thesis committee chair. Then, it must be approved by the School of Comm graduate committee. Generally, Jim's advisees' thesis statements, with some revision, then become chapter one of the thesis.

The thesis prospectus consists of chapter one and chapter two (lit review). A successful prospectus is first approved by the thesis committee chair and subsequently (with revisions) by the thesis committee members.
