THE CITY BY THE SEA BY S. ROBINSON Memories keep fading right by but chances are I'll never forget. There were hot-rods,crazy youths hanging out looking for races, sex,or just to be seen. who could forget Madame Marie a spiritual guide who tells us our future for just a few bucks. Times we spent heading north on Ocean Avenue cruising past our favorite spots Goldigger, Mrs Jays, Stone Pony, all on the same strip. There were live Bands some made It BIG giving "ASBURY PARK" a spot on the map. Passing right by the Pink Flamingo on Kingsley, Headed right toward Palace Amusements were Tilly The Clown face was hanging around waiting for comments from Benny's who were new in town. It was a memorable time for all who visited "THE CITY BY THE SEA." Disappearing in time they say they will rebuild but it will never be the same as when we spent our summer nights cruising around. Etched in my memories the feelings I had of freedom, rebellious youth, staying out for the night not worrying about consequence's the next day will bring. |
