20 Minute Rule:
It happens every year! The practice (or game) is over, all of the kids are leaving and you are putting the equipment in the car. You do a last minute look-around the field and there you see one kid sitting all by himself, waiting for his ride. You don't want to leave the kid alone at the field so you wait, and wait, and wait....
While you would like to give the parents a good chewing-out, sometimes unforeseen situations and emergencies do come up. For that reason it is a good idea to institute a 20-minute rule. Simply put, tell the parents that you will wait up to 20 minutes at the field after a game or practice. If they don't arrive within 20 minutes, their kid is coming home with you and they can pick them up there!
You might end-up with an unexpected guest, but at least you won't be sitting at the field all night!
