I plan my bulletin boards to use the same background through the whole school year. This background is fabric, stapled to the bulletin board. It happens to match the colors of the hallway where it is located, so it looks like it belongs. The green border is paper, which I cut myself from large sheets of contruction paper. I have kept the same green border up all year, but it would be easy to change the look by changing the border color too. I like the fabric background because it still looks fresh through several changes. I use staples, masking tape or scotch tape to affix the elements to the background and everything stays put nicely. This board went up in January as we were starting our winter sports program. It was quick and easy! I started with the snowmen, which I found in MS Word clip art. Each one has a letter written on it's chest with marker, and once they are all together the letters spell WINTER SPORTS SAFETY. The bottom of each snow man has a safety tip starting with that snowman's letter, written in marker. I made the snowballs across the top, simply freehand cutting circles and roughly edging them with black marker to mimic the style of the snow men. The letters are hand written in marker. Add a few snowflakes, a skiier in the background, and a clip art ground hog checking his shadow and you have a great visual health message that hardly took any time at all. You could adapt this same idea for playground safety, or dressing for the weather. |
