I went to school in that bulding in the 50ties great building probably a lot sounder than what we are building today. Lets not distroy a piece of our history without giving it our best shot at saving it . Others may not see the value if they are from another town or area.

Just found your site. Happened to be looking for something else, but noticed my grandmoter's maiden name- (Bertha)FOLSOM Wheeler-A native of the area I understand-and it piqued my interest. Have never been particularly interested the family tree, but would appreciate any information re: Folsom, Currier, and Fogg Many thanks.

I believe that my great-great-great-grandfather was James Dame, 21 April 1769 - died unknown, a tailor in Upper Gilmanton, and who married Susan Wentworth, 1773 - 20 December 1841. I believe that James had a son James married in 1845, and also sons William and perhaps Jonathan, one of which would have been my great-great-grandfather (the evidence of his name is conflicting). My great-grandfather was Thomas Dame born on 3 April 1837 in Upper Gilmanton and lived in Gilford by the airport where I now live. Thomas' mother was Sophronia (maiden name unknown) born 20 October 1801, died 23 November 1883. I should like to fill in the blanks above. If there is anyone in Belmont who has any knowledge of James I should appreciate hearing of it.

Diane: I guess you would say this comment if for you. I just had a call from my dear friend Margaret Heinek of New Carlisle, Indiana saying you had sent her information on Jonathan York. I have to tell you she is flying high with the information you had sent her! You have made her a very happy lady and I wanted to let you know. Although I do not descend from her Jonathan York I did have an ancestor who was briefly in Gilmanton but went to Stanstead, Canada before 1803 - Rev Avery Moulton. Thank you again for helping Margaret whom you made a very happy wonderful lady, who also helps a lot of people through her computer look ups. Laureen Bostedt

Interested in Charles Leonard McCarthy, b. Boston, 1868, married in around Laconia, NH, perhaps in late 1880s, ?divorced, later remarried in Worcester, Ma.. Also, his relations, McCarthys from Boston, including sister Matilda, b. c. 1850, sister Mary A., born c. 1853, sister Elizabeth, b. c. 1860, and brother Henry, b. c. 1865. Also, he was related to Wrights from the Laconia NH area he visited in the early 1900s. A Nellie Norton is related and of interest also, she born around 1860s, died about 1950 in Boston, Ma.

Really strange. I have been checking on the Joseph Young family from Canterbury, N.H. today. Our ancestor was David Young, born: April 25, 1799. Father was Joseph Young and Mother was Betsey Shaw. A Joseph Young, born: @ 1776,Deerfield, Rockingham, N.H. was a relative of Brigham Young. This is the connection , I am looking for. Good job on your site. Gwen

I should have mentioned that I have an extensive Fifield website at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~fifield. It includes the ancestry of the Belmont Fifields. However, note that it cuts off after the seventh generation of the immigrant ancestor William Fifield who immigrated in 1634. This is to keep information on living individuals off the internet. Therefore you might not find the individuals on this website specifically mentioned on mine. I am willing to share information on an individual to individual basis.

Am still trying to find definitive proof that Sophia (Nutter)Parshley was the daughter of John Nutter. Sophia was born 10 Jun 1808 in Barnstead. She married Ira Parshley 17 May 1840 in Barnstead. He died 02 Feb 1894 in Manchester. She supposedly died 21 Jan 1887 in Pittsfield. Can't find burial place of either. Her father, John Nutter was born 02 Nov 1779. Don't know her mother.

Billings- Greatgrandfather rode a bicycle from the Great Lakes region of NY to/through New England looking for a place to move the family. Found Belmont to his liking and sent for the rest of the "tribe." They bought a large farm that was next to the Gov. Badger (now Roberts) Farm.(This farm no longer exists, however I have an old photo of it) Grandfather, Kenneth W. Billings met Lora Bryant French and married. (Both went to Gale School, then took train to Tilton school when older.)
