I love your website and would love to make one but I'm lucky to be able to create a genealogy...not to mention a website. My Father is Guy Franklin Bishop, His father is James Lafayette Bishop and his father was "Doc" John Bishop. "Doc"s father was Attison L Bishop, of Franklin County Alabama son of James W. Bishop whose father was William Lewis Bishop of Spartanburg South Carolina. William Lewis Bishop's father was William Glover Bishop, son of Henry Bishop, son of John Bishop 111, son of John Bishop 11, son of Captain John Bishopp who came to America on the ship "Paule" in 1635, soooo, I assume we all hatched from the same nest at one point in time. If you know a Bishop who's family originated from Virginia, North/South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, or North Mississippi there's a good chance some of these names will help you find your roots. Happy hunting and if you get a chance, dig around in the ancestry of Captain John. There's some interesting characters in his family tree. Thanks again Tom

Hello, I accidentally came across your website while looking at the information on the musical group "Moonlight Ramblers". My Grandmother was Damie Bishop. Daughter of Elihu Bishop, They lived in Morgan Ky. I traced the Bishops back to the 1500's in Oberhaussen, Germany. They are my ancestors and we are probably distantly related. Just wanted to say this in case you would like to keep in touch. Elihu was killed by "Raiders" in 1864 because he was Confederate. Very interesting line, the Bishops.I grew up in Kentucky, Clay City , but went to school in Indiana. Moved to Texas in 1963

My Bishops are Reuben and Nancy Wooten Bishop/ Married in Montgomery co. Al but moved back to DeKalb Co. GA. Think Reuben's father was Joshua but can't prove it. Think Enoch Bishop was his brother. Do you have anything of this family? I will have a book out with Thomas Wooten and on to Reuben and Nancy to me and the rest of "our" Bishops in Texas by 1st of Dec. 2005

Glenda - I may be related to you on the GARRISON line. Do you trace this line at all. Most of my hard files are in storage as I plan to move in a couple of months, but I do have some on disks that I can dig up if you are interested. I am descended from Silas Garrison of Winston Co., AL. He may have arrived there from somewhere else; I'd need to consult my records. My ancestress Sara Atta Garrison married James ("Jim")Lovett and lived in Double Springs, AL. prior to settling in Chilton Co., AL, Jim Lovett was wanted by law officials for coining his own money; lengthly investigations were made and when an arrest was about to be made, Jim loaded up his wagon and headed south. They slept in cemeteries at night in order to avoid detection - who'd ever think to look in a cemetery? And at NIGHT, to boot! After reaching Chilton Co., Jim Lovett decided he was safe. Apparently he was, because he was never captured and held responsible. All the LOVETT's of Chilton (there really isn't that many) are related and descend from Jim Lovett. I have this story in a book here at home. Sara Garrison, his wife, is the line I am most interested in tracing. Should you be interested and/or can help, please let me know.Your family pictures are great! A picture really brings it all to life and makes it real. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely family! Take care and "follow your dream" :) Kind regards, Your long lost cousin (maybe?) Rickey Owens-Smith San Diego, California

I am also searching the Bishop ancestors. Elijah Edward Bishop was from Spartanburg, SC and fought in the Civil War. His father was also Elijah and that one's father was named William Bishop as was his father which makes it confusing. The first William fought in the Revolutionary War and I am still trying to get them all straight. Elijah Edward Bishop was my grandmother's father and they had relocated to land north of Bonham, Texas, along with his father-in-law, Malcolm McRae, who had also lived in Spartanburg. Where do you live, Glenda?

In my google search for the McCullers family name your website came up. I am really interested in the McCullers family name and am wondering if there might be a connection to my family name of Cullers original German spelling Koller. Many of the old families moved around through out the early development of this country and changed the spelling of their names for various reasons. I have been doing research on my family's migration throught out the generations. Respectfully, Jack
