I've been told that Lemmon street is named after my family. There were 4 sons, two of which went to a town in Texas (now Dallas) the other two sons stayed in Wynsboro, South Carolina. I have a beautiful antique chair that I would like to donate to the museum here in Corpus Christi because it came from the Lemmon family many many years ago. I would like to hire you. whats' the next step? jackie (1 800 531 1030.

Just stopped by your site looking for other Lemons. Am the son of Roy V. and Audrey M. (Dalhaus) Lemons. I believe we (The Lemons) came mostly from Tennessee. I think we traced it back to the 1800's. Union Lemons. Hello to all the other Lemons out there. (I never realized there were so many). Have a good day.

My grandfather was Robert Hamilton Whitaker, the son of John Henry Whitaker, who was the son of Eli Harris Whitaker, who was the son of Oroon Datus Whitaker and Martha Rivers Harris. I have looked on google before for Oroon Datus Whitaker but it has been a while and was excited to see the Whitaker history that ties to my Whitakers. I hope to learn more about the Whitakers as my information is limited about any of the others. I do know that my grandfather lived in Lisbon, Tx which is now Dallas and some of the Whitakers are buried there. I have been to that cemetery and to the Whitaker St. where the family lived at one time. I have pictures of that home and some letters of Eli that I believe are written to his sister, Elizabeth. My grandfather's father is buried in San Angelo, Tx.

I am researching the family of SOLOMON JONES with the assumption that his daughter NANCY married AUGUSTUS/GUST/GUSTY TAYLOR. Your research looks very methodical and complete; thank you for sharing via the internet. Please share your thoughts on Nancy Jones and Gust Taylor and any suggestions you have for further research. (I live just a few miles from the DC genealogical resources and can do follow up research on the family there, as well as anything you would like "looked up".

Betty Jean Sneed AbiodunTuesday, 10/14/03, 7:59 AM

Greetings, I come from the African American side of the Sneed family and I am seeking to know more about our ancestors. It seems that on my grandmother's side, the Sneeds from my family came from Indian Territory, Choctaw Nation. with the surnames of Yeagins and Foster. On my grandfather's side, the Sneeds in my family came, I believe from Farmersville, Texas. Starting with my paternal great great grandparents, many Sneeds were childless, and the Sneed line which comes from my Paternal great grandparents has just about vanished. Many Sneeds in my family were also it seems well educated or high in their skills achievement and may have chosen not to have children. Currently the Sneed line from my paternal great grandparents continues through my only brother, Stephen Sneed who has 6 children, three boys and two girls. I am of course am an Abiodun and so my children who are females, are not Sneeds. They have an African heiritage because their father is from Nigeria, West Africa. If you care to share anything about the Black or African American side of the Sneed Family, I would love to hear about it. Thanks a lot, Betty Jean Sneed Abiodun

I am researching my Great Grandparents on my Mothers side, a W. J. Lemons (1842-1914) and Sarah Ann Kemp (1862-1920), both buried in Horatio AR Cemetery. They were married in Polk Co. AR in 1890. My grandmother is Cleo Lemons Wilson, 1900-1987. I would appreciate any information or directions to a Lemons researcher. I just received a very detailed and complete family history on Lemons that included my W. J. and S. A. that stated original Lemons came from TN and indicated W. J. was born in Texas, Missouri. However the birth dates conflict with my data and I am not sure that their data is accurate. I could provide the file if it is an interest to you. Thanks much in advance for entertaing my request. My gr.gr.gr. grandmother was Johanna Whitaker married to Josiah Stallings. They were in Heard and Carroll county, Ga. Would love to find who her parents were. In trying to research my Whitakers, I found some in my husbands ancestry. His grandmother Tallahassee Dillingham Dalton had a sister named Cora Ann Dillingham who married a Victor Whitaker born in Andrews, NC. He was the son of Stephen Decatur and Catherine (Phillips) Whitaker. Victor and Cora later moved to San Diego, California.
