Thanks Jon for an excellent site on info for a tower raising hoist! I'm in the middle of a TX-489 project and am just starting the research to figure out how to convert the manual hoist to motorized and your site has provided exactly what I needed. If ok, I may "pick" your brain as I progress. The tower base hole has been dug and rebar started. I've NOT been looking forward to the manual winch. :) 73, Don/N7BD

Nice site! Great work on the tower hoist. I have a 12v winch I was going to try, may have to rethink. How about some tower pictures? 73 Peter

I duplicated your installation and am studying how to make permanent cover. At present I am using a olastic cover. I chose to use 1/4 in steel rather than alum.
